System Description

Growing urbanization has imposed greater and greater burdens on city traffic systems. Traffic monitoring is a key management strategy to respond to this trend. In order to help civic authorities meet their intense demands, Moxa’s intelligent traffic monitoring systems build flexible system architectures for a wide range of traffic monitoring applications. Whether it’s the toll station to the city streets to the highway, there is a Moxa system that will excel in monitoring that particular stretch of road.

In a city surveillance system, Moxa offers the VPort 36-1MP HD IP camera, VPort 26, SoftNVR-IA recording and monitoring software, and SoftCMS large scale video management software. For applications that requires edge-side recording, our MxNVR-IA8 video recorder is also available. If an IP CCTV expansion is required for an existing legacy traffic monitoring system, Moxa has a pain-free upgrade path in our full-fledged video encoder series that ensures seamless surveillance service in either new deployments or system expansions. VPort video decoders are also available if composite video display is required in control room for legacy CCTV monitors. Furthermore, IVA functions that automate some video monitoring tasks are also supported in Moxa’s edge side IP camera solutions.


In a typical application, the VPort 36-1MP, VPort 26, or video encoders are deployed at all the important intersections and roads, and transmit video back to the control center, which is equipped with an SoftNVR-IA or SoftCMS server. At the same time, the central traffic bureau can access live or recorded video from any given camera by remotely logging in to SoftNVR-IA or SoftCMS. The system can even be configured to give the general public access to some video feeds, to learn about traffic conditions.
